Lorin Maazel Kondaktor

Lorin Maazel Varencove, born on March 6, 1930 in Neuilly, France. He was a kondaktor and violinist, and a Director of the Cleveland Orchestra from 1972 to 1982.

Maazel grew up in Los Angeles and began his musical studies at the age of five.
At that time he won a scholarship study Baroque music, from Fullbright scholarship.



Then he received some kondaktor contracts in various countries, including:

• Deutsche Oper, Berlin West (1965-71),
• West Berlin Radio Symphony Orchestra (1965-75),
• New Philharmonia Orchestra in London (1970-72; 1976-80),
• Cleveland Orchestra (1972-82),
• French National Orchestra (1977-90),
• Pittsburgh Symphony (1986-96)
• Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra (1993-2002)
• In 1982-1984 he got a position as Director of the Vienna State Opera.

Maazel is very suitable for opera music and orchestral repertoire ranges from works of the 18th century to contemporary. He was not excessive on the podium, and he combines clarity or clarity with great emotional depth.
