Born in Salzburg, Austria, on 5 April 1908 and died in Anif, near Salzburg, on July 16, 1989. Apart from being kondaktor opera and orchestra, he is a figure well-known international musicians in the mid-20th century.

He underwent his musical studies at the Mozarteum, in Salzburg. His debut as a professional kondaktor is in Salzburg in 1929.

A year later he was elected to the post kondaktor in Ulm, Germany. Later he was appointed as Kapellmeister at Aachen until 1941. At the same time, he also worked as kondaktor at the Berlin State Opera.

He went to Italy in 1944. In England he contributed to the establishment of London Philharmonia in 1948, and in 1955 became director of music at the Berlin Philharmonic.

In 1967 Karajan established the Salzburg Easter Festival tradition. From 1969 to 1970, he became kondaktor Orchestre de Paris and finally back to the Vienna State Opera in 1977.

Interpretation of musical styles Karajan has advantages in terms of accuracy and objectivity. Nevertheless, between the 1970s and the 1980s, however, more pronounced in kondaktingnya characteristic individual style.
