It has the advantage of leading popular music and classical. Bernstein playing piano since the age of 10, and enrolled in:
- Latin School and Harvard University (graduated 1939)
- Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia from 1939 to 1941.
In 1953, he was the first American to be kondaktor at La Scala, Milan. Its popularity increased as kondaktor and pianist as well as a commentator and entertainer. He continues to write music and perform as a guest in several symphony kondaktor worldwide.

- The Unanswered Question (1976), taken from his Charles Eliot Norton lectures at Harvard (1973).
The score for "On The Waterfront" is amazing - And watching him conduct the Vienna Phil's Sibelius 2 is so inspiring.
