Kirk became interested in music after often hearing his brother play the music of Kiss, UFO, <a href="http://mmusic-zone.blogspot.com/2013/02/brief-history-led-zeppelin-rock-band.html" target="_blank">Led Zeppelin</a>, and <a href="http://mmusic-zone.blogspot.com/2013/01/jimi-hendrix-album-re-released.html" target="_blank">Jimi Hendrix</a>. After hearing the guitar Ace Frehley, he was immediately infatuated with music and then buy the album Kiss Kiss. That makes it began studying the guitar at the age of 15 years. He began fiddling with his guitar diligently to get the sound to suit his wishes. 
 
<a href="http://mmusic-zone.blogspot.com/2013/01/biography-eddie-van-halen-greatest.html" target="_blank">Van Halen</a> popular in America in 1978 apparently also the Kirk effect. He became a passion to form a rock band called Exodus. Then in April 1983, Kirk gets a call from James Hetfield (Metallica guitarist and vocalist) who wants the Kirk immediately flew to New York to audition new Metallica guitarist Dave Mustaine replace outgoing (later form Megadeth). After the release of Kill 'Em All, Kirk then studied guitar with guitar maestro who later also became one of the world's leading guitar god Joe Satriani in Beerklee College of Music. He was influenced by guitarist Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Glen Buxton, and jazz fusion guitarist Allan Holdsworth. In 1985, he joined a group of former <a href="http://mmusic-zone.blogspot.com/2013/01/biography-eddie-van-halen-greatest.html" target="_blank">Van Halen</a> front man David Lee Roth to record the albums Eat 'Em and Smile and Skyscraper. In 1986, Vai played with John Lydon's Public Image Ltd on their album Album (also known as Compact Disc or Cassette). Then, in 1989, Vai joined Whitesnake, replacing Vivian Campbell. When Adrian Vandenberg injured his wrist shortly before recording was to begin for the album Slip tongue, Vai played all the guitar parts. In 1994 Vai received a Grammy Award for his performance on the Frank Zappa song Sofa from the album Zappa's Universe, Vai playing a twin-necked Ibanez. The beginning of the 21st century saw the release flurry of Vai, including a compilation of instrumental, 7th Song: Enchanting Guitar Melodies Archive, in 2000, and the first full-length live release, Alive in an Ultra World, in 2001, as well as a career that included a giant ten-disc box set of Secret Jewel Box. In 2002 he collected several pieces that he has contributed to movies over the years, including the guitar duel from Crossroads and the theme to Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey and put them together in a collection of 40 songs called The Elusive Light and Sound , Vol. 1.
